Why I read this: Cause it’s book 3 in the series and since I loved the first 2, it was a no-brainer to read this one.
Life isn’t meant to be easy, but for Zachary Bennet the last two years have been downright hell. The one shining light in his life, his precious daughter, Hayley. Deciding he needs a clean break, Zack gets a new job in a small town called Leyburn in the hopes they can settle down and live a peaceful life.
Between worry over one brother’s increasingly erratic behaviour and constantly walking in on the other two making out with their mates, Simon Holland is ready to pull his hair out. All he’d ever wanted in life was a mate and a family. When his wish is finally answered with Zack’s arrival, Simon finds out first-hand how far hate and bigotry can drive some people. But life wasn’t meant to be easy and Simon would protect what was his to the end.
“Will you give me your sperm?” Sarah ask Zack, “You know I’m gay, right?”
Sarah is Zack’s best friend since the first day of high school, the first person he came out to. But now she has cancer and refuses the treatments to be a mother, making Zack a daddy at the same time. During her pregnancy tragedy strikes Zack and he looses both of his parents, never meeting their grandcub. Not long after Hayley’s arrival Sarah looses her battle leaving Zack alone to raise their daughter. With nothing holding him back he decides its time for a change of scenery. After accepting a teaching job in Leyburn he knows he needs to meet with his new alpha, little does he know he is about to come face to face with his Mate.
Simon knows something is going on with his younger brother, and between dealing with the worry of not knowing what and the two mated couples making out on the couch, he is getting fed up. He begins to think it might not happen, but who knocks on his door? Yep his mate and his Mate’s adorable two-year old. Oh you can feel the heat in the room!!!! Simon is ready to claim his mate right NOW!!! But oh yea Zack is a dad, and makes it very clear that Hayley comes first and will always come first. Simon says he can handle that and sets out to prove that to Zack. There are dates the three of them go on getting to know each other. Simon finally convinces Zack to move him and Halyey in with him. Yea its happily ever after right? Not so fast, some people are too homophobic and hateful to let things go.
Sarah’s parents make it their mission to take Hayley away from Zack, and they almost succeed. But with a Mate as protective as Simon and the brothers, they don’t get far, and Haley is back, safe in her daddy’s arms, and Simon’s arms around them both.
Now here is where the book went from an 8 to a 7.5, Brian has not been feeling well and no one knows why. At the pack meeting Alex ask if anyone has any theories to let them know. Now I am not going to spoil it for you, why? Well I want you to read this book, cause it is really good and I did enjoy it, but the end threw me for a loop. Not in a bad way, just in an “out of my normal comfort zone” way. Yet I remind myself that this is a shifter story, so yea I’m gonna roll with it. I’m going to read book 4 cause I am intrigued and I want to see how it plays out.
