Bethany gives 10/10 pots of gold for Kindle Alexanders Always

Why I read this book: Simple, her books are auto-buys for me.

Born to a prestigious political family, Avery Adams plays as hard as he works. The gorgeous, charismatic attorney is used to getting what he wants, even the frequent one-night stands that earn him his well-deserved playboy reputation. When some of the most prominent men in politics suggest he run for senate, Avery decides the time has come to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps. With a strategy in place and the campaign wheels rolling, Avery is ready to jump on the legislative fast track, full steam ahead. But no amount of planning prepares him for the handsome, uptight restaurateur who might derail his political future.

Easy isn’t even in the top thousand words to describe Kane Dalton’s life after his father, a devout Southern Baptist minister, kicks him out of the family home for questioning his sexual orientation. Despite all the rotten tomatoes life throws his way, Kane makes something of himself. Between owning a thriving upscale Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Minneapolis and managing his long-term boyfriend, his plate is full. He struggles to get past the teachings of his childhood to fully accept his sexuality and rid himself of the doubts brought on by his religious upbringing. The last thing he needs is the yummy, sophisticated, blond-haired distraction sitting at table thirty-four.
Pot Of Gold 10star

Kindle Alexander is an auto-buy for me so there was no question I would be getting this book. I was told that this was not like her other books, and wow that is the truth. I really don’t know if I can express to you how wonderful it is, but I sure will try.

One word that came to mind after I finished it was extraordinary, then it was beautiful, then PERFECTION. What Kindle shares with us in this book is truly a love story that stands the test of time. A love that can not be broken, love that proves soul mates are real. It proves there really is that one person in the world that completes you, that person that will love you and you will love, always.

What can I say other than I knew that this book would be amazing cause I was crying by the end of the first chapter. And I will remind you that this is not the type of book she normally writes, so if that is what you want you will not find it here. But I encourage you to try it anyway. This book is an epic journey about their relationship that spans 40+ years. And from the very beginning I felt that I walked right besides them, and experienced everything they were going through. I went through their highs, and their lows. I felt apart of them and not many books can do that for me.

when kindred souls meet, they were destined to be together, always

I dare you to read this book and NOT believe that love, in any form, is wrong. Usually I am not a fan of insta-love cause it just seems fake, but these two? Kane and Avery will make you believe in love at first sight. Their love stands up to the injustice they had to face, and they come out stronger on the other side. Since this takes place over 40 years I found myself thinking, even with the strides we have made in the GLBT community now, I could not fathom how it was back then. Yet they were proud of who they love, they refuse to let anyone stand in their way.

The religion aspect of the book was something I was so happy to see, cause you don’t get that in many m/m books. But it is not something that she tries to force on you. But Kane is a Christian and he believes in the bible and the power of prayer. He believes in marriage, and the church. So as a Christian who believes all the things Kane does, I enjoyed this all that much more. It does not take over the book, but it is a huge part of who Kane is, therefore it is something Avery accepts and embraces, cause of his love for Kane.

Is this book angsty? No cause I kept waiting for it and it never came. Is it emotional, oh hell yea. Now the ending, it is painful but beautiful. I had 20% left in the book and I was sobbing. Like the ugly, fetal position, can’t see through the tears crying. I know a lot of people were not happy with the ending, me well I am not quite sure. It left me emotionally raw and I kind of wanted to hate Kindle for it, but she talked me down. And when I thought about it later, much later, I realized it was the perfect ending.

You are my soul, my always

I wish I had the magic words to make you go buy this right now and read it. The only thing that I can say is this truly is a love story for our time. Always.

  1. I loved this book, like all of KA books. But I’m I the only one that thought the ending was a little too much? Don’t get me wrong I cried my eyes out…. But I guess I’m getting too cynical in my old age!
