Áine reviews ‘Out-Foxed’, book Three in the Skyler Foxe Mysteries (Published by MLR Press, November 2012).

This is not only a review for book three, but each day this week you will find another review for one of the Skyler Foxe Mysteries! Check out my reviews for Foxe Tail & Foxe Hunt.

Skyler breaks it off with Keith, a teacher is murdered and a student might be involved through some twisted football initiation; Just another week at James Polk High.

Distraught at being outed, Skyler breaks it off with Keith, but they’ve got other problems. Protesters have gathered at the school and the school board has called a special disciplinary hearing. And as if that weren’t bad enough, Alex is getting into fights and skipping class. Might he be responsible for the murder of a teacher? Did Coach Carson send the boy to do the dirty work out of some twisted football initiation? Skyler knows it all has to stop, and he and his friends are on the trail to find a murderer and discover once and for all what is happening at James Polk High.

Cover: Again, great cover, showcasing Skyler in his teacher persona. ♥

Title: Cute title, playing on the sleuthing Skyler does… but will he really be ‘out foxed’? 😉

Story: In Out-Foxed we finally get to learn what the *beep* is up with Keith and his weirdness, what’s going on at the school, and more about the fun and quirky Skyer and the SFC.

The aftermath of Skyler and Keith’s outing at school is tense, especially with Skyler sending Keith away. Now, you can fuss that Skyler should have been more understanding… but I’m on Skyler’s side. Keith outed him at a teen dance and is still not being open and honest about who and what he is. Then he doesn’t stand by Skyer when he needs and yeah, I wanted to strangle Keith more than once.

However, the plot was wonderful, the characters even more engaging and addictive than before, and the romance, while odd at times, is perfect. Out-Foxed is another great addition of the Skyler Foxe Mysteries. It’s fun, sweet, sexy, and has you debating between giggling and wanting to beat anyone that would hurt the Sky-boy. By the end you will be happy with the guys, thrilled for Skyler, and wanting to dance for the evil football coach and his minions.

I loved every minute of this book. Highly recommended!!! (9.5/10 Pots of Gold)

Haley Walsh tried acting, but decided the actor’s life was not for her. Instead, she became a successful graphic designer in Los Angeles, her hometown. After fifteen years of burning money in the ’80s and early ’90s, she retired from the graphics industry and turned her interests toward writing. She became a freelance newspaper reporter, wrote articles for quirky magazines, published award-winning short stories, and now writes an acclaimed gay mystery series, the Skyler Foxe Mysteries. She’s lived all her life in southern California, sampling wines and chomping chocolate. Yeah, it’s a living.
