Moment of Clarity hires (1)

Spending the summer together on Fire Island brought Collin and Tanner closer than ever, but back in their conservative college town, challenges confront them at every turn.

As they search for their new normal in their old environment, Collin’s brother Sean surprises them with help when they need it most. But when word about their relationship gets out, trouble erupts with friends and family. When Collin’s relationship with Tanner becomes an issue in his brother’s custody battle and Tanner struggles with his feelings for a heartbroken Wendy, Collin wonders if everyone he cares about would be better off without him in the picture.

In order to save them both, Tanner must make it clear to Collin that their love for each other is all that matters.

Moment of Clarity continues the story of Collin and Tanner, but I would recommend reading Book 1 and Book 2 first.  My review for  Book 1 can be found here :  Moment Of Impact  and my review for Book 2 can be found here:   Moment Of Truth.  Haven’t read books 1 and 2? Then hurry up as Moment of Impact and Moment of Truth will be on sale for 99 cents for a limited time (May 5 -18 2015).

After their summer on Fire Island and then with Collins mother, Collin and Tanner arrive at College – but rather than being room-mates, they find everybody out on the grass outside the building, together with fire trucks.  Due to someone else’s cooking in their dorm room, everything has been damaged by water.

They spend the first night in the gym of the College – and both Collin and Tanner hated this, as they couldn’t touch each other at all – and on top of that Eric is also there, and he knows about Collin and Tanner having seen them on Fire Island, and Collin is terrified he will out them at the college.

Sean is contacted by his brother, whom he meets, and to Collins surprise he now seems to accept their relationship, and when he learns of their predicament he then tells them that they go to stay with him, and they help with the three children since he wife Laura has left him and the children….. until she barges into the house when Tanner and Collin were there alone, making out on the sofa.  She screams at both of them and calls them a few choice names, and says that his brother will be hearing from her lawyer.  Both Tanner and Collin are dismayed at this turn of events, and both of them take it hard that they have now caused problems for Sean and the children.

They finally manage to move into their dorm room, and life seems to be getting back on track, until they receive a phone call from Sean to say he has to stay away from them, and then Tanners friend Wendy arrives quite distraught, and turns to Tanner for comfort.  This unsettles Collin, as Tanner and Wendy used to be fuck buddies before Collin and Tanner became an item.

When the next have time alone, they make the most of it, and when Collin leaves to go to class, waiting outside their room Collin finds a friend called Tim, who barges into the room wanting to know what chick he has in the room….. when he sees Tanner laying in the bed and the bottle of lube, he slowly realises that Collin and Tanner are gay, and it was them that he could hear having sex.

Tanner and Collin then have to contend with Tim telling everyone that they are gay, and they come home one day to graffi on their dorm door.  Help comes in the shape of the owner of the Pizza shop where they both work, and he tells Collin and Tanner that they can both stay in the flat above the shop, which they move into as soon as is possible.

However, Collin seems to think that all the bad things that are happening are his fault….. his brother possibly losing custody of his children, Tim finding out they are gay and then he starts to think that Tanner would be better off with Wendy, as he knows that she does love Tanner, and all he has done is cause him problems since they have been together.

Collin mulls things over, and then makes a decision that will change his life…… but rather than talk to Tanner, he waits until Tanner and Wendy attend a wedding together, which includes an overnight stay.  When Tanner returns, it is to a letter left in the flat by Collin………….

Where does Collin go??  Do Tanner and Collin remain together??  You will have to get the book to find out.

I will openly admit, that I had tears in my eyes while reading this part of the book, the total despair that Collin felt really came across in the book. You just wanted to reach into it and give him a hug.   I find it  hard sometimes to read where people are so narrow minded about being gay, and this book really showed how Collin began to feel like a total outcast, and the utter devastation that he feels he has caused though being gay.
