Synopsis:
College sophomore Ethan Follett never says what’s on his mind and never wants to rock the boat. After a high school social life spent anonymous and alone, things are finally falling into place for him. He’s found a group of friends just as studious as he, and is on track for a promising legal career. Out in the open, things couldn’t be better, but secretly Ethan yearns for some real excitement in his life.
He finds it in cocky frat boy Greg Sanderson, who challenges every rigid, preconceived notion Ethan lives by. Soon, their sparring relationship turns sexual, and these enemies-with-benefits get their freak on all over campus. Yet the more Ethan comes out of his shell, the more Greg retreats into his, working overtime to keep his ladies man public persona intact. As the sex gets hotter, and they get closer to getting caught, one part of their arrangement can’t stay hidden any longer: love.
OUT IN THE OPEN is a M/M new adult romance filled with humor, heart, and hot guys. The book is intended for audiences 18+ as it contains explicit sex and language.

Ethan is socially awkward and has always struggled to make friends. Things were finally looking up since college started. He was able to form a small circle of friends with similar interests and was able to get into Con Law, the one class he desperately wanted. Ethan still keeps to himself most of the time, not wanting to draw attention and lose the few friends he has. But he is yearns to break free, have some excitement and possibly a get boyfriend.
Greg is a frat brother. He is popular and is known on campus as the ladies man. He likes to party and have fun.
Ethan and Greg meet in Con Law but not on great terms. Greg is cocky, extremely distracting and tells Ethan things he doesn’t like to hear. Their constant quarreling eventually leads to love hate friendship.
After one embarrassing moment their friendship dynamics change from just friends to a friends with benefits relationship. Greg is determined to get Ethan out of his comfort zone and has him taking risks in public that could get them both caught. Eventually, Ethan starts to struggle to keep his heart out of the mix. Which has Ethan pondering if Greg will ever take the leap and come out of the closet? Or is this all just fun and games to him.
This is was such a fun book to read. I adored both Ethan and Greg’s characters. I loved how Greg wanted to get Ethan to cut loose and live a little. There are quite a few sex scenes. They are HOT but not over done or repetitive.
The authors writing style was very descriptive and flowed really well. The story is told in Ethan’s POV but I would have loved to have read part of the book in Greg’s POV as well. I look forward to reading more from A.J. Truman in the future.
If you like a fun M/M book about coming out then I highly recommend reading Out in the Open.
