Synopsis:

Violence has always solved most of his problems, but it can’t help him win over a man whose whole life is surrounded by things that scare him.

Brad Flynn had a rough start to life. With an abusive father and an addiction problem, his life hasn’t been easy. He has always been the resident bad ass and the town drunk. Even when he gets sober and becomes an upstanding member of the community it doesn’t seem to change the towns mind about him. If it weren’t for his two brothers he would have no one.

His past doesn’t make having a love life easy either, but when he meets Kendrick Ashby, the local bar own, he wants to give it a try. The only problem is Kendrick has his own problems, ones that make having a violent boyfriend impossible. Both have to decide if dating is even worth a try.

*****

From the beginning of this series starting with book 1 I disliked Brad, he was a drunken homophobic jerk. In book 2 I saw a glimpse of a different Brad. In book 3 I grew to like him a little, more so after he helped Kyler when he was given a drug. In this book I fell in love with him, I just couldn’t help myself. There is much more to him that meets the eye, his character is very complex and very caring. He lives for his two brothers, going to jail saved his life by helping him to clean up his act and be sober.
Kendrick is scared of his own shadow, he was badly abused by his ex in the past. He needs to move on but is finding it hard. He has fallen the big beautiful Brad even though he is terrified of him. He need to trust to learn to live his life.
This book is so emotional, it has taken me on a roller coaster ride that I will never forget. Two damaged souls become one as they help each other heal.
Then throw the family into the mix making this book very exciting and a joy to read.
I was a little worried after the last book not being a good fit for me. I am so pleased I have read A Tarnished Strength. I can’t praise the author enough, she took two emotionally damaged guys and not only did she gave them a future together she gave it a little nudge so that the book wasn’t depressing in any way, it was wrote is such a way that it was pleasure to read.
Overall a fantastic book that I couldn’t put down. I’m looking forward to reading the next book….
