Two very different men with a tumultuous history must overcome challenges from all sides and see past their society’s rules to realize they are destined for one another.

Raised to become Alpha of the Yafenack pack, Samuel Goodwin dedicates his life to studying shifter laws, strengthening his body, and learning from his father. But despite his best efforts, Samuel can’t relate to people, including those he’s supposed to lead.

When Samuel meets Korban Keller, the son of a neighboring pack’s Alpha, he reacts with emotion instead of intellect for the first time in his life. Resenting the other shifter for throwing him off-balance, Samuel first tries to intimidate Korban and then desperately avoids him. What he can’t do is forget Korban’s warm eyes, easy smile, and happy personality.

When a battle between their fathers ends tragically, Samuel struggles to lead his pack while Korban works to break through Samuel’s emotional barriers. Two very different men with a tumultuous history must overcome challenges from all sides and see past their society’s rules to realize they are destined for one another.

Samuel Goodwin is the next in line to become Alpha of the Yafenack pack. From the young age of eight he was determined to be the best alpha he could be. He studied and learned as much as possible from his father the current Alpha. Unfortunately his people skills were pretty much nonexistent.

At one of the Alpha meetings he ran into Korban Keller. Korban was also the next in line to be Alpha of his pack. But other than that he was the opposite of Samuel on many levels. He was out going, fun and comfortable around people. Samuel wasn’t fond of Korban and his all too smiling face. But being the only two kids attending he was forced to spend time with him. Samuel didn’t understand the feelings he had when Korban was around so he would try to push him away but was usually unsuccessful.

Every few years they would end up seeing each other and the same would happen Korben would be happy to see him and Samuel would be trying his best to hide from him and the strange feelings he had.

But what will happen when tragic circumstances throw both men together for a longer amount of time? Will Samuel figure out that Korben has been his mate all this time? Or will he only see red and seek revenge?

Cardeno C. Definitely knows how to write a story that captivates you from page one and keeps you enthralled till the last page. The scenes are vividly detailed and characters are well-developed. The sex is hot but also sweet and beautiful. There were ups and downs and different twists throughout their journey but it’s the love and how both men made each other whole that I enjoyed the most. In Your Eyes is unquestionably another amazing book in the Mates series.

I’m sad that I have finished the last  book in the Mates series but I’m looking forward to reading more by Cardeno C. in the very near future.

Cardeno C. – CC to friends – is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few “awwws” into a reader’s day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno’s stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.

Cardeno’s Home, Family, and Mates series have received awards from Love Romances and More Golden Roses, Rainbow Awards, the Goodreads M/M Romance Group, and various reviewers. But even more special to CC are heartfelt reactions from readers, like, “You bring joy and love and make it part of the every day.”
