Third Book in the Bred For Love Series
Hunted by the crown, Prince Edward of Cassia struggles to adjust to his new reality. His consort and lover Percy is pregnant with their child. Their friend, Abelard Reynard, a former captain in the Royal Guard, never strays far from Percy or Edward, determined to keep them both safe. Edward, no stranger to hard work, is still at a loss when the hardship of a life on the run catches up with them. Percy’s pregnancy progresses at a rapid rate, and the palace guards are always a step behind. It takes Reynard’s skills from his secretive military career, an unexpected ally from within the Cassian Dynasty, and the love between Percy and Edward to keep the three of them safe as Percy’s time draws near.
Keeping themselves safe and together may have been their goal originally, but as the trio travels across Cassia, through the garbage-strewn alleys of abandoned hamlets, to the opulence of the nobility’s drawing rooms, the effects of their journey leave behind a lasting impression.
A rebellion is brewing in Cassia…sparked not from the lashes of oppression and cruelty, but born from love and a desire to see all of humanity treated as equals.
The third book of the grand love affair between prince and slave comes to a riotous climax in A Royal Rebellion.
The Royal Rebellion picks up where the King’s Command ended. If you have not read the first two books of the series then I recommend reading them first, due to possible spoilers in this review.
Edward has escaped from the hospital and is now with Percy and Reynard. They are in the process of trying to get to Elysian. This is not a easy task. The King is hot on their tail but Reynard and all his training has kept them one step ahead.
The length of Percy’s pregnancy is going to be shorter than expected. They are afraid time is running out. Therefore, they need to get somewhere safe before Percy goes in to labor. But, before this can happen a decision needs to be made to either keep going and try to get Percy to Elysian, where he will be able to live free, or to stay close by and take the opportunity that comes along to bring down the King once and for all.
Revella Hawthorne has done a spectacular job writing these three books. The Royal Rebellion is fantastic and my favorite of the series so far. There is so much going on from the prologue to the very last page. Between the secrets that are spilled and the twist and turns, you don’t realize hours have passed reading and the book is finished. Not only does the author make you fall for these characters but she has you reacting to each and every emotion they experience. I am excited that bits and pieces of the mystery that surrounds Reynard were revealed. I hope more of his story will be told in the upcoming books. Just like the previous two books there are no major cliffhangers just the need to see how the story continues on.
I highly recommend the entire Bred To Love Series by Revella Hawthorne. These are not standalone books so reading in order is a must. For those you that also enjoy a great shifter book, then I also recommend reading the author’s other work under the name SJ Himes. Her book The Wolves of Black Pine is phenomenal. The links to my reviews for each of these books are listed below.

Revella Hawthorne is the pen name for paranormal romance writer SJ Himes. Taking the name from her fanfiction writing days and the best name for a tree ever, SJ writes as Revella when she’s feeling less than lyrical and wants to explore the rougher, rawer, and wilder side of mm fantasy and romance.
SJ, AKA Revella, is a thirty something crazy woman who just moved halfway across the country to start over, and the only things she took with her are her beloved dog Micah and her WIPs. Her specialty is in gay paranormal and mm (urban) fantasy, and whether she writes under the name SJ or Revella, she does so with the goal of writing the best story she can.
Bred For Love Series currently has three installments, the third to be released on November 10th, 2015. Expect a fourth in Spring of 2016.
Check out her Amazon page ( amazon.com/author/sjhimes ) as SJ Himes for her other work.
