WLK synopsis

Not even his mother’s funeral can convince self-proclaimed party boy Zach Johnson to tone down his snark or think about settling down. He is who he is, and he refuses to change for anyone. When straight-laced, compassionate Aaron Paulson claims he’s falling for him, Zach is certain Aaron sees him as another project, one more lost soul for the idealistic Aaron to save. But Zach doesn’t need to be fixed, and he refuses to be with someone who sees him as broken.

Patience is one of Aaron’s many virtues. He has waited years for a man who can share his heart and complete his life, and he insists Zach is the one. Pride, fear, and old hurts wither in the wake of Aaron’s adoring loyalty, and as Zach reevaluates his perceptions of love and family, he finds himself tempted to believe in the impossible: a happily ever after.

Zach is the partying and one night stand type of guy. He doesn’t do relationships and he won’t change who he is for anyone. Zach receives a call from his brother letting him know that their mother has passed away.  The last thing Zach wants to do is go back to the town he grew up in for his mother’s funeral. It’s been 10 years but the wounds are still there and he doesn’t want to see the people who inflicted them.

When Zach shows up at his brother’s house, he is dressed as he would when he goes clubbing. It’s his armor and a statement for all those to see that what they did to him didn’t change who he is. All Zach wants is to turn around and go back to the airport. That is until he sees him. The gorgeous man in the kitchen. He doesn’t usually lust after straight guys but there is something about this guy that draws him in.

Aaron is 27 years old. All his life he has taken care of those needs him. Aaron has known that his true love is somewhere out there and has been waiting for the moment that he meets him. Aaron has no desire for hookups and that’s one of the reasons he is still a virgin, he wants to save himself for the one he will love forever. The moment that his best friend’s brother walks into the house Aaron knows that Zach is the one he has been waiting all these years for.

It will take a lot more to convince Zach of this though. Sure he wants Aaron, but being monogamous? That’s a whole different story. Plus, he believes that Aaron wants to fix him, that he doesn’t really want him. But as they spend time getting to know each other Zach begins to wonder if it could be true. Could they have a chance at love? Can Zach take the risk and trust Aaron with his heart?

I have had the opportunity to read a few books by Cardeno C. and have loved each one. He Completes Me is the first audiobook I have listened to. I wasn’t sure if I would like audiobooks or if I could get into the story enough to connect with the characters. At first I was struggling but after a few chapters I was able to get into the story. Alexander Collins has a great voice. I could easily differentiate each of the characters voices. I was able to picture the characters and scenes effortlessly as he told the story. I will definitely be listening to more books narrated by him in the future. My struggles at the beginning weren’t due to the author’s writing or the narrator. I believe it was just me needing time to adjust from reading a book to listening to the story be told.

There were so many times I wanted to strangle Zach for treating Aaron the way he did. I understand that he has been hurt, and it’s a way of protecting himself, but it broke my heart how he treated others, especially Aaron. Once Zach accepted that Aaron’s feelings were real and he couldn’t push him away, Zach let his guard down and became a totally different man. Aaron was so sweet that you instantly fell in love with his character. He has so much patience and such a good soul. The chemistry between the two men was instant. Which eventually leads to an abundant amount of sex scenes, almost too much, but they are definitely hot. Zach and Aaron end up being exactly what the other needs; making them whole.

  1. I don’t really listen to much audio books. The last one I gave a try was Siphon. I see high praise for this one though and will have to go about giving it a try.
