I requested a review copy of this book a while ago, because a hot and kinky holiday story intriqued me. Sean Michael has always known hot to write a sexy and romantic erotica story and I wanted to see how that would look as a holiday short. The 2-4-1 week, where we read and review two shorts or novellas, seemed the perfect time for it. It was a mere coincidence that all my reviews for this week ended up being holiday stories, even though it’s spring. 🙂

Once a year, from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve, Shay gets a visit from Harper, one of Santa’s Elves. Their magical time together may only last a week, but Shay anticipates it the entire year and throws himself wholeheartedly into the kink-filled week. The only way their time could be better would be if Harper could stay longer.

When November rolls around again and the kinky gifts start arriving, Shay can only hope he’s been a good enough boy this year to be granted more time with the Elf he loves. Will Santa be able to deliver this year?

For me, this story was pure fun. And I mean the kinky and highly sexual variety. This erotica short story is filled with BDSM aspects like bondage, edging, a christmas-style switch and a lot of very adult toys. Personally, hardcore BDSM can be a bit much for me, but I do very much enjoy when characters are playful together and try out different things to give each other pleasure. Thisstory may be short with 29 pages, but it’S HOT and the most kinky holiday story I have ever read.

You shouldn’t go into this story expecting a lot of world building or complex characters. There’s not enough time to really get to know Harper and Shay, especially with the focus on the erotica. However, their love for each other is very clear and they have a wonderful chemistry, which makes the well-written and diverse love scenes very effective. And while there may not be a lot of mythology about the christmas elves, the tidbits readers learn about are fun and just enough to spark the own imagination.

I do wonder if the toys the christmas elf produces are the adult variety, given all the anal beads, dildos, vibrators, butt plugs, etc he sent to Shay. That would give new meaning to Santa’S toy factury to me 😛 It made me anticipate the elf’s arrival and imagine all the many ways these toys could be used in fun ways. Shay and Harper only have a single week together every year, but boy, do they make the best out of the limited time they have.

The main protagonists are not just hot and horny, they are very likable and sweet. Given that this one week each year is the focus of both of their lives, it seems heartbreaking that they can’t spend more time together. Well, unless their biggest christmas wish comes true and Santa makes an exception for them and allows them to stay together.

I really enjoyed this story and can recommend it to every one who likes their holiday stories as sweet as they are naughty.
