Spotlight on The Prince and the Omega by Penelope Peters (Published by Penelope Peters for Amazon Kindle, May 25, 2017. Approx 40K words) Excerpt and Giveaway below.

Rowan’s not royalty – and that’s fine by him.

Omega Rowan Thornton has never been so glad he’s not considered royalty. Especially since his best friend Princess Celia is stuck bonding with a foreign prince she’s never even met. Celia’s solution? Ask Rowan to flirt with someone, anyone, during her engagement ball so she can live a romantic entanglement vicariously through him.

Well, that’s what best friends are for, right?

Gus is royal to the bone – and that’s the trouble.

Prince Gaspar – better known as Gus – isn’t the type of alpha to fall in love at the drop of a hat, or at the staged farce of a romantic ball. He’s agreed to an arranged marriage because it’s his duty – not his desire. When his half-brother suggests he take a last chance at having what he really wants before getting tied down to a foreign princess, Gus has no intention of following through… until he meets the handsome omega commoner with the adorable smile.

It’s not like Gus is going to lose his heart or anything, right?

It was only a single night – but the consequences could be greater than their lifetimes.

Gus and Rowan both know that a lifetime spent together is impossible – but for a single hour, they just don’t care. One night of giving into their passion has consequences neither of them anticipated… but will it dismantle the fragile truce between their countries? And will one courtier’s jealousy end up destroying everything they both hold dear?

The Prince and the Omega is a stand-alone m/m mpreg omegaverse non-shifter romance with an HEA ending. It has secret passageways, loyal friendships, garden labyrinths, and a prince in disguise.

It was only with Gus walking in the shadows behind Rowan that he began to realize that he’d possibly made a mistake.

Take away one sense, and the rest are heightened, thought Rowan wryly. Gus was handsome to see – but the darkness just made Rowan even more aware of the slight accent to his voice, the way his vowels blended softly together.

Not to mention the scent that wrapped Rowan up like a blanket, warm and safe.

“Plenty,” said Gus behind him on the staircase. It took Rowan a moment to realize Gus was answering his earlier question about interesting sights seen in Calabria. “I’m very envious of these passageways of yours.”

He’s flirting with you, sang the voice in the back of Rowan’s head. Rowan began to blush. The voice sounded a lot like Celia – which was probably because Celia would have said the same thing, particularly since Gus’s eyes were at the same level as Rowan’s ass. You should flirt back.

Rowan said the first thing he thought. “My secret passages are pretty fabulous.”

Gus stumbled on the stairs below him, coughing with laugher, which was when Rowan realized what he’d said.

“Oh, God.” Rowan sat down heavily on the steps, face burning. “I… I did not mean that.”

“Yes, you did,” choked Gus, already sitting on the steps below Rowan, laughing so hard that it didn’t look like he could stand if he tried.

“Not like that,” protested Rowan.

“If you say so,” said Gus. He leaned back against the wall, wiping at his eyes as his laughter faded. “Oh, wow. I haven’t laughed like that in… I don’t even know.”

Rowan smiled to himself, unable to quench the flush of pleasure Gus gave him. I made him laugh like that. Me!

“You should laugh more often, you look nice when you laugh,” said Rowan. He buried his face in his arms before Gus could see the warmth in his cheeks.

Gus hadn’t stopped smiling – but it changed now, became something less jovial and something… warmer. Almost intimate. “Keep me laughing, and I will.”

“Okay,” said Rowan, before he could think. Gus’s gaze on him wasn’t letting him think. He looked at Rowan like he wanted to continue talking to him – which was funny, because the longer they sat near each other, the more Gus’s alpha scent permeated the cloud of dust that filled the passageways.

It smelled delicious, and it didn’t make Rowan want to talk at all.

“We should keep going,” said Rowan, pushing himself up to his feet.

“Okay,” said Gus amicably as he reached up. “Help me up?”

Rowan grabbed his hand and hauled Gus up to his feet. Gus’s hand wasn’t warm or cold, but it was strong, and Rowan’s hand fit perfectly in it.

He’d know how to hold me, thought Rowan. He dropped Gus’s hand the moment he could get away with it.

“I’m going home after you get back to your rooms,” he said. “Tonight cannot possibly be any more embarrassing than it is right now.”

There was a flash of disappointment on Gus’s face – or maybe amusement, it was hard to tell when Rowan’s flashlight turned back onto the stairs. “Never tempt fate like that. Might come back to haunt you.”

Penelope Peters, much to her regret, is not a princess, nor does she have a drop of royal blood (that she knows of, anyway). She does love a good musical romance and okay, maybe she was singing a certain song about lovers meeting on enchanted evenings in crowded ballrooms while she was writing that scene. She’s also never thrown pebbles in a wishing well, traversed a secret passageway, or had a secret evil brother. She did, however, walk the labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral, which was super cool.

Penelope currently lives with her prince charming husband, their princely sons, and the cat, who remains convinced of its royal status.

  3. Congrats on the release. I have to admit that I have not really heard of non shifter omega stories, but this sounds really interesting.
