Erryn reviews ‘A Very Henry Christmas: The Weight of it All 1.5’ by N.R. Walker. This book was released by the author on December 10, 2017 and is about 55 pgs long.
Why I read this book: After reading ‘The Weight of it All’, I was assured Henry got his happy ending. I wanted to see what was going to come next…
A 12,000 word short story about food, fluff, and fornication.
Henry wants to share his and Reed’s first Christmas Eve being engaged by hosting dinner with their closest friends. Henry loves food and he loves to cook—he plans an entire menu and decorates the house to rival a department store, but even though everything’s perfect, something’s not quite right.
As Henry and Reed prepare for a merry Christmas, no matter what happens, you know it will be a very Henry Christmas.

My Review:
(aka – #prayforreed)
You don’t have to have read/listened to ‘The Weight of It All’ to enjoy this story, but it definitely helps. This is Henry and Reed’s first Christmas as an engaged couple and they are hosting a Christmas Eve dinner for their closest friends. Reed’s co-worker Emily and her boyfriend are there, as is Melinda, Henry’s personal assistant. There is another critical couple as well – Henry’s best friend Anika and her beau Sean.
Henry is obsessed with hosting the best party ever, of course, and Reed is along for the ride.
The first thing I noticed is while the first book is entirely in Henry’s point-of-view, we get Reed’s perspective in this short story as well. I loved it because I got a different view of Henry and it is clear Reed loves Henry despite his neuroses and not because of them.
*sigh*
Henry’s only request from his guests is that they wear Christmas T-shirts (it is summer in Australia, after all). I’m not going to ruin the surprise of what is on the T-shirts, but those images alone make the story worth reading. Think X-rated ugly sweaters…
In the end, all of Henry’s stress was worth it, even with the judgmental barramundi and…George Clooney? There is news, however, that is going to change everything in the New Year.
Something to look forward to!
Oh, and since gay marriage is now legal in Australia, I’m starting a petition to Ms. Walker for a Henry wedding.
OMG, can you just see it now? And if Joel Leslie narrates? No sipping soda while listening.
So Ctrl C your way into Henry’s world and you won’t regret it. Oh, and it’s okay…Reed doesn’t get it either at first.
My Rating:
10/10 Points of Gold (100% Recommended) – Compares to 5/5 Stars

She is many things; a mother, a wife, a sister, a writer. She has pretty, pretty boys who she gives them life with words.
She likes it when they do dirty, dirty things…but likes it even more when they fall in love. She used to think having people in her head talking to her was weird, until one day she happened across other writers who told her it was normal.
She’s been writing ever since…
Sounds like fun. Thanks for the review.
