Wendy reviews ‘Stallion Mage: Secret Omega’ (M-Preg romance, book 1) by A.O Spade. Self published December 4, 2018, 115 pages.
In a tribe of stallion shifters, Alvarr is smaller and more delicate than the rest of his tribe-brothers. But he is also a rare stallion mage, a male shifter who can perform magic… a talent only found in mares.
The other tribe members mistrust Alvarr and his powers over the earth. Though the Elder stallions view the mage as something precious, they are the only ones who value him. Even the strong, commanding lead stallion, Laren, keeps his distance.
The leader’s rejection of the smaller mage hurts, until the Time of Mating brings them together. Two nights in the woods change the course of their lives forever.

Why I read this book: The author offered this story for review and when I saw the blurb, I knew that I had to give it a try. A.O. Spade is a new to me author and I love to read new authors!
From what I understand, this story came about during a challenge from a friend. I’ve read many, many shifter stories but this was the first one that had horses. One of the things that I liked most about this story is that the shifters/characters spend more of their time in horse form rather than as humans. Another fun aspect is that it takes place in the Stone Age. This gave the book a unique perspective and the author did a great job at assuming those roles.
I was able to connect with the MC’s right away and I think you are going to love them just as much as I do!
I’ve also become very fond of short serials and this being the first in a trilogy fit that bill perfectly. The author is in your face unapologetic about creating a fantasy world that is different, sometimes dark and a little scary and not afraid to tell their story the way they want it told. I found the world building easy to follow and I admit, I’m intrigued. I can’t wait for the next installment.
This is an author that you’ll want to keep your eyes on!

Oh, and here’s the deal. Any and all book sale proceeds go toward buying the author & friends tequila. Because, dammit, life in a candy factory isn’t all rainbows and sunshine. (And neither is being a unicorn.)
AO SPADE expresses deep thanks to the spirits of abundance in the universe, especially those who support the purchase of Casa Dragones. Or Jose Cuervo — really, I’m not particular.
