Why I read this book: I love puppies in all forms.

One accident has turned Jackson’s life completely upside down.

When Jackson’s sister inadvertently posts an ad for a puppy play book instead of his dog training business, his inbox explodes with the most interesting emails he’s ever seen. In a sea of kink that he’s never even considered, one sweet letter stands out. It’s polite and earnest, and something about the two men’s words touches him in a way he never expected…but they’re not just looking for a lover…they’re looking for a master.

If finding a master for one pup was hard, finding a master who wanted two was almost impossible.

Cooper and Sawyer know that they have a better chance of winning the lottery than meeting the man of their dreams. Mature, sweet, dominant masters don’t just drop out of the sky…and when they add in the fact that they’re looking for a man who will love them both, the odds are astronomical. When they see Jackson’s ad online, Cooper couldn’t be more excited. He’s confident that the mysterious man who hints at being a master will be perfect for them. Sawyer, on the other hand, isn’t so sure that everything will go the way Cooper imagines, but saying no to Cooper is like stopping an excitable, well-meaning train. However, when Jackson actually responds to their email, suddenly the impossible seems to be right within their grasp.

Sparks and laughter fly as Cooper and Sawyer get to know the man who just might become their accidental master.

Erryn’s Review:

Since I’ve met a couple of human puppies, relating to Cooper and Sawyer was easier than it might have been.  There is something liberating about letting go of inhibitions and being a true and authentic self.  Acknowledging a submissive tendency is difficult enough, but the recognizing you prefer to either run around on all fours chasing a ball or curling up and being stroked and petted?  There is something special about people willing to make themselves vulnerable like that.  So Sawyer and Cooper?  Adored them.

Jackson was a tougher nut for me to crack.  He has a great relationship with his sister Melanie – Melly.  His being tolerant of her antics was sweet.  Her mix-up in placing the ads? I don’t know if I was ever able to figure out her motivations and actions.  Her side gig was a little pat, but that’s an aside (gripe) for me.

Dog handlers and trainers are phenomenally patient people.  I know because I have a dog who has gone through four levels of training with the same amazing woman.  How she deals with recalcitrant yappy dogs and their temperamental and ornery owners day after day is beyond me.

But I digress.

That Jackson is willing to be open to the possibility of a relationship with the two much younger men is sweet.  That he appreciates the seriousness of the tasks is also good.  I also liked the fact he is new but doesn’t pretend to know everything.  It’s okay to see if you don’t get it.  I enjoyed the dynamic between the three men as they negotiated and sorted out the complexity of the new relationship.  Since book 1 was mostly about the preliminaries in the relationship, I was thrilled to see there are two more books in the series.  I can’t wait to get to see how these three men make this grouping work.  More sexy times afoot, I believe.

I adore Kenneth Obi when he’s narrating these kinky and taboo books.  There is usually a mature and settled Dominant as well as one or two younger submissives.  Kenneth is able to give each man a distinctive voice while also doing a decent job with the women in the stories.  I especially enjoyed his portrayal of Cooper – a squirrel on amphetamines in a good way.  Enthusiastic, playful, and fun.

A great book and since book 2 is already out on audio, I’m ready to grab it.

  1. Thank you for the review. I’m not really too into BDSM books but I have to say the characters do sound like fun and nice characters. I just finished a audio book narrated by Kenneth Obi and this sounds like another reading from him I should give a try.
