As the years pass, Morgan establishes himself as a leader who is as kind as he is strong and Golden Valley prospers. But it isn’t until an Omega shifter enters his life that Morgan sees hope for a future where he can be more than an Alpha.
When Psi Omega Ricky Marx goes to Golden Valley as a representative of his home pack, he is thrilled to find his mate—the beautiful, powerful Golden Valley Alpha. Unfortunately, their first meeting doesn’t go well, and overwhelmed by his mistakes, Ricky sees no choice but to flee.
Morgan’s past makes him struggle to absorb more loss. Ricky’s youth makes him struggle to find his voice. But if these two shifters can overcome their challenges and come back together, they’ll heal the Golden Valley pack and fulfill their destiny.

Bethany’s reveiw~
I adore Cardeno’s book and was excited for another installment of the Pack books. I listened to the first two and enjoyed them a lot, so I knew I couldn’t pass reviewing this one.
I will start by saying this can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend the first two books as well. Now for this one, oh my poor Morgan. He has been through so much tragedy in his young life, I just wanted to hug him. He his so loyal to his pack even if it means being a leader he never thought he would be. All he wants is a mate and a handful of kids. What he wasn’t planning for was a male omega mate.
Some serious miscommunication leads to heartbreak for both Morgan and Ricky. Sigh, so many times I wanted to shake both of them at times. But in true Cardeno fashion, our MCs find their way back to each other. I might not have been the easiest way but when they both finally cleared the air my heart melted for them.
I really do love reading about shifters and highly recommend this book, as well as the first two, if you want something not too heavy on angst quick read.
Wendy’s review~
I was thrilled when I heard there was another “Pack” book out. Its been too long since I’d been able to visit these shifters! This is a stand alone novella but I recommend reading the series in order to get the most from the book.
Right from the start our Alpha protagonist is struck by tragedy and his life is forever altered. That tragedy shapes the thoughts of the entire pack and they are fiercely loyal and protective of Morgan. So much so that they are distrustful when his mate arrives being a male omega. The history his pack had with another male omega was devastating and the ramifications of what that omega did were felt daily.
Morgan was such a great character. Even if he was initially shy of his omega mate and well, rude lol. He did embrace what the fates had gifted him with but unfortunately he doesn’t get the chance to apologize for his poor behavior before his mate overhears something that drives him away. That doesn’t stop the Alpha from doing everything in his power to try to get his mate back.
My heart broke when he lost hope.
Ricky… what can I say about him? He’s sweet and has an air of innocence and naivety at the beginning of this story. That honest way that he accepts what the fates have given him is just pure joy. Again, cue the heartbreak because it doesn’t last.
He and Morgan have a rough road and CC takes it to the very edge before giving us our beautiful HEA. I took a couple days to digest this book because for all that it is a short read, I always find deeper and more complex meaning in these stories. If you want some light and fluffy, enjoy shifter stories or a quick read then this is a good book. If you want to look for more in the story, I think you can find that here too.
9/10 Pots of Gold or 90% recommended
Cardeno C. – CC to friends – is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few “awwws” into a reader’s day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno’s stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.
Heartwarming Stories. Strong Relationships. Forever Love.
