I am a huge Susan Hawke fan. I have nabbed everyone of her audiobooks and devoured them – often in one sitting. As you can see above, I’d reviewed each book as they were released and when I heard they were coming out in a bundle, I realized it was my chance to revisit my old friends. A comfort, to be sure. Then I realized there was a little hidden gem included and I whooped in happiness. How Not to Wait is the prequel to How Not to Break and has never been released on audio. Shaw is a young man just moving into adulthood. That being said, he’s been crushing on his father’s best friend for as long as he can remember. His parents are okay with him being gay. Would they support him coming on to the much older friend of the family?
Yeah, probably not so much.
When he finds himself alone in the cabin with Nick, though, he kind of can’t help himself.
Now, Nick is all about restraint. Yes, he finds Shaw attractive, but he’s not going to tap that. He remembers Shaw as a twelve-year-old, not the tempting young legal man before him. But he has too much respect for his friend and way too much self-control to give over to his urges to show that ginger the reality when two men find each other irresistibly attractive. I wasn’t sure how far they were going to go, but I knew we were in for some sexy times. However, I knew the tragedy about to befall the men, so it was all bittersweet.
That being said, I knew they would get their happy ending in the next book so I was able to see past the upcoming pain.
Okay, so have I said I love Susan Hawke? Well, I need to add that I love Michael Dean as well. He is so talented and I love what he’s able to do with all the characters, but especially Honey Combover. It was nice to revisit some old friends and I’d be happy if Ms. Hawke eventually gave me new ones as well.

Susan Hawke is more widely known for her mpreg writings as Susi Hawke; this new name is a departure from that. Whether written by Susan or Susi, the books are filled with that all-important love, laughter, and family; the only difference is that this name has no male pregnancy.
