Bethany reviews “Date in a Pinch” by Brigham Vaughn. Release date is February 11th, 2021, and is Self-published.
Why I read this book: Brigham Vaughn is an auto buy for me so I jumped at the chance to review this one.
Blurb:
A sweet geek and an experienced Dom: someone’s about to learn their lesson …
When chemistry teacher Neil Greene gets an unexpected delivery at Pendleton High, he’s mortified when his fellow teacher and crush sees the contents that hint at the adventurous love life he’s dying to explore. Curious but inexperienced, Neil has no idea how to live out his fantasies until the hot lit teacher offers a helping hand.
Alexander Ford likes to be in charge in the bedroom and he’s happy to tutor Neil in all things naughty. But when Neil asks him to pretend to be his date for the Sweetheart’s Game at Pendleton Bay’s Love Fest, Neil may be the one teaching Alexander about love.

Like I said above Brigham Vaughn is an auto buy for me, and when I had the chance to review it here, I jumped at it. I haven’t found a book by her I don’t love. But this is the first time I read a book by her with a BDSM theme. When I first read a book with a BDSM theme I devoured them. That was all I read. But then like many things we can get burned out on them, so I would read them every so often. So I don’t shy away from them, I’m just more picky about the ones I read.
Brigham did not disappoint me with this read. You can tell she has done plenty of research to make sure that what these two MCs do as part of a BDSM relationship is accurate and on point. Safe, sane and consensual is absolutely a priority for these characters.
Neil while not a virgin, he is completely new to the BDSM world. Alexander is a seasoned Dom who is more that willing to teach Neil the kinky side of a relationship. Only Alexander is only looking for a play partner NOT a relationship partner. And when you find out why he thinks he is not cut out for a relationship it will break your heart and you will want to hug him.
Neil thinks there is something wrong with him for wanting the kinky things in the bedroom. But oh, how Alexander teaches him that as long as it works for both parties involved then its not wrong. Watching Neil explore his submissive side was truly beautiful to watch. But the best part was getting to see Alexander FINALLY come to terms with the fact that this is not longer just a play partner, but a man he has fallen in love with. The struggle to overcome his past “mistakes” was simply perfection in my honest opinion.
I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a hot and steamy BDSM read. But one that focuses heavily on relationship building, not just the BDSM aspect, but also as a couple. I adored this one so much and was so excited to hear that Brigham has more in store for us and the Pendelton series. I can hardly wait.
