Wendy reviews ‘The Scouts’ (An Order Series, Book 3) by Kasia Bacon. Published April, 22,2021, 166 pages.
Lochan and Ervyn—an assassin and a sharpshooter—remain in service to the queen as part of an elite reconnaissance unit.
The Scouts are ghostlike. Elusive. Deadly.
They strike at enemies of the Crown without mercy. They get the job done, leaving no loose ends or witnesses. When Magic Supremacists threaten the safety of Elven Country, they do their duty—whatever it takes.
Lochan and Ervyn belong to each other, but will serving together as comrades-in-arms strengthen their bond as lovers or tear them apart?
The Scouts is the third book in the Order Series. In this volume, Ervyn loses control, Lochan stops fighting his feelings and Verhan… well, remains Verhan.
Recommended reading order: The Mutt, The Highlander, Twenty-One Arrow Salute, The Scouts.

Why I read this book: If you’ve followed me at all, you will know that I’m a HUGE fan of Kasia Bacon and the Order Universe. When the opportunity to read and review this one came up, I jumped at the chance.
This is a true series and you will need to read from the beginning to follow the story. This is not a hardship.
Errvyn and Lochan seem to be fitting in to the “Scouts” nicely. I wasn’t worried, since this seemed to be the perfect choice for the couple. These two elves shouldn’t fit together at all, but like the Scouts, they are a perfect fit for each other.
Erryn, is so in tune with Lochan that he knows exactly what his lover needs and he’s absolutely able to deliver. I love how they have developed into two halves of one whole and that really shows in this book. They can tell what the other is thinking with just a look and that comes in super handy when fighting or on secret missions. However, his steadfast loyalty is put through the test and we see a whole new side to the Dark elf.
Lochan, seems to be coming out of his shell a little bit more in this story as well. He surprises everyone when he talks and even a small amount of humor shines through. Even so, he still puts on the mask that only Errvyn seems to see through when he needs it and he could “still probably kill you with an eyelash”.
The two of them have a bit of a BDSM relationship going on in the sense that Lochan likes pain and even needs it at times as well as needing to submit. Errvyn definitely gives him exactly what he needs.
This was a longer book than the others in the series and it felt good to have more adventure and a closer look at what makes the Scouts tick as well as a peek into the families of our MCs.
