Why I read this book: I’m on a paranormal kick.
All ice dragon shifters have a fated mate. But Andrew was never allowed to find his. At 18, he was forced to bond with a rich 70-year-old man.
Now that man is dead, Andrew is unable to bond to anyone else. He’s never felt so alone.
Timber has worked as a professional daddy dom for more than 10 years, when his agent comes to him with an unusual proposition. An omega from New York needs a hired knot, and he’s willing to pay an exorbitant sum. The contract comes with a picture of a beautiful man and a list of demands that are so in line with Timber’s personal interests, it’s uncanny.
At the end of the list is a nervous request:
“I’d like you to call me ‘baby boy’. If you wouldn’t mind.”
Timber can’t refuse a request like that.
Expensive is a gritty D/s love story set in the omegaverse with age play, hurt/comfort, and mpreg of the dragon egg variety. It was previously released as a short story. This version has an additional 30,000 words.
While Expensive is set in the same world as the Heron Manor series, it stands alone.

My Review:
Amy Bellows is a new author to me but I was certainly willing to try her book. I’ve been on a shifter run and this isn’t even my first dragon shifter book. I liked the premise of this one – a man who is bound to a life he doesn’t want because of ancient traditions and family. Ugh, Andrew’s family.
But Andrew has a caring staff member who suggests he find someone to satisfy his needs. With infinite resources, Andrew selects Timber, a porn star. Timber is ready to admit the money would be nice, but there’s something about this young man that calls to his inner protective alpha. One taste of Andrew and he knows his life has irrevocably changed.
Then a pregnancy derails everything.
But I kept hoping the men would find their happy ending. That against all odds, something good would happen to both of them. Well, I was quite pleased with the ending of the book. There was a lot going on with other characters and if there are more books, I’ll pick them up as well. Finally Zachary Zaba. I quite enjoy his narrations and he rounded out this lovely book nicely.
My Rating:
