Why I read this book: I’m enjoying this series.

A cruel twist of fate gives wolf shifter Chad Lawson a male mate. The problem? He’s not gay.

Or is he? Growing up with an overbearing alpha father left its mark on Chad. His father considers gays unnatural. Not wanting to lose his connection to his family, he ignores the part of himself that craves male company and affection.

So, when Chad discovers his mate is a man—the stunning Addison MacNair, a powerful dragon shifter—he panics. Allowing his fear to overtake him, Chad lashes out and denies the other part of his soul—destroying his and Addison’s hope at love.

But when Chad’s father threatens not only Chad but his sister, Chad turns to the only person who can help—Addison. Will Chad be able to mend the pieces of the heart he shattered? Or will the sting of Chad’s harsh rejection be too much for Addison to forgive?

My Review:

What happens when your fated mate is someone you aren’t attracted to?  Or at least someone you tell yourself you’re not attracted to.  Chad has been told his entire life that being gay is just about the worst thing in the world.  Then he scents Addison, and his world turns upside down.  Addison is his true mate.  Addison is a dragon shifter.  Oh, and Addison is a man.  And gay.

Chad’s father is trying to force him into a mating with someone who isn’t his true fated.  Someone he can never make happy, and can never make him happy.  His choice is to honor the father who is a cruel SOB, or follow his heart.

I could relate to Chad wanting to please his father and I kept hoping he’d do the right thing.  That he’d find a way out of his predicament.  He did, and I was thrilled.

I can’t end off this review without mentioning Aaron Ross and his fabulous accents.  Makes me want a dragon of my own.

My Rating:

8.5/10 Pots of Gold (85% Recommended) – Compares to 4.25/5 Stars

You wouldn’t know it to look at him, but C.K. has a love for soul mates, true love, and happily ever after. Of course, he can’t let his characters get their happy ending too easily; they have to suffer first. He’s inspired by day to day life and loves transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary in his stories.

C.K. resides in small town Florida near where he grew up. He has a large, crazy family, a prissy Chihuahua, and two mischievous cats that love each other one moment and hate each other the next–there’s no in between.
