This was previously released in the Stranded Anthology as a short story, but this is an extended novella.

Wynn Brenwood has been trapped by his mother since birth, shut away in a sterile, hospital-like apartment.

Is it her desire to keep him safe that sees him locked up in his pristine cage? Or are her motives less innocent and well-intentioned?

Wynn longs to break free to experience the world he sees beyond his window.

Desperate to escape, he meets Doyle, a handsome, leather-clad, and enigmatic stranger.

But is Doyle real, or is he just a figment of Wynn’s imagination?

Imagine this if you can…… an apartment all to yourself, everything you could ever possibly want or need is at your fingertips – the latest computer, all the television channels you could ever want, a never ending library of ebooks, food in your fridge and cupboards…… sounds wonderful??

Well, think again, this is the life that Wynn leads, shut away in his sterile apartment, no colour, just white, and one that has all the latest mods cons, including ones for killing germs on people as they enter….. but Wynn cannot go out of the apartment, he is a prisoner in his own home, all because his mother believes it is safer for him to say inside.

I have to say, I have never hated a character as much as I hate Wynns mother – she comes across that she doesn’t really care for Wynn, it is like he is a problem to be tolerated, and she constantly makes promises to him that she breaks. In this extended version, you do see the background of his mother, and perhaps why she is like she is.

After being extremely upset one day, Wynn lays on the floor beside his big windows, and curls up and falls asleep……. when he wakes he is in a room with a huge man, wearing leather….. now enter Doyle, or does he?? …… or is Wynn awake, or is this just a wonderful dream??
