op-640

Why I read this series:  I have already read this series before, but was asked if I wanted to review and I jumped at the chance to read it again.  I have to say that I had forgotten how much I loved this series.

*WARNING* The Opposites series are majorly M/M New Adult novels that contains explicit sexual content and relationships between gay, lesbian and straight couples.

????????????????????????????????????????In the year 2081 our planet survived global warming of an apocalyptic scale. When the dust settled and the water receded Dr. Anthony Smith, one of only a few hundred survivors of GWI, started society anew. Having come to the conclusion that injudicious breeding played a huge role in the destruction of Earth as we knew it in the twenty first century, he worked closely with other survivors to isolate the Dionysus gene. This gene has the ability to manipulate human DNA to ensure that all male children be born gay, and all female children be born lesbians. A new society is born.

In the year 2300 Dr. Smith’s descendants are ushering in the twenty fourth century having maintained control of the government that still rules society. Twins Aiya and Aiyan are preparing to meet their matches and take control of House Gaeland, the current ruling House. But not everything is as it seems.

Love is Love.. it knows no gender and doesn’t conform to restrictions and boundaries. Aiyan has found his soul mate in Kaden, the prince of House Devi that he is matched with and eventually marries. But when the person Aiya falls in love with tests the boundaries put in place after GWI, all hell breaks loose. And in the midst of one secret unraveling, another will emerge. There is a growing anomaly that threatens to destroy over two hundred years of progression. This anomaly is known as Opposites.

Opposites is a book set in the future, and since the Global Warming Ignition, Dr Smith found a way to change human DNA to ensure that every child that was born, was either gay or lesbian.  Anyone who is not gay, is known as an Outkast, and are kept away from everyone else, as they are considered as abnormal. In this world the only “normal” people are gay and lesbians……..

Wow, what a start to this series, this is the first of four books, and I have to say that Opposites is one very hot read. The instant attraction between Aiyan and Kaden scorches the pages!!  Aiya is matched with Maeve, but they are not suited like Aiyan and Kaden, but they still go through with the marriage, as they see no alternative.  But Aiya is hiding a very big secret, that will mean her possible exile if she is found out.

With all the families together to celebrate the weddings of both Aiyan and Aiya, you then also feel the mutual attraction between Tanis and Raven. However, Tanis is good-looking and is used to people jumping at the chance to be with him –  but Raven seems to be avoiding him at all costs.  I did enjoy reading about these two, as you could feel the emotions of them both.

This book is fast paced, and nothing happens like you think it will, and there are quite a few twists and turns that you are not expecting….. especially towards the end of the book.

The LibraryThree gay couples run amuck in this short story where clothing, beds, even four walls are all optional!

Want to know what happened that night in the library?
Cirian and Rian had a fight in the library and Rian ends up naked on the desk, on his back, at Cirian’s mercy.

Want to know how far things went with ice cream?
A romantic evening by the fire feeding his husband ice cream leads to a lot more than heavy petting for Aiyan and Kaden.

Want to know what was going on when those birds fled?
Travelling hundreds of miles, battling the rebels and then travelling back to House Gaeland will take it out of you. But when Tanis wants something, he takes it. Raven is about to be bent over a tree!

A Note from the Author: I’ve taken three scenes from Opposites that were cut short and elaborated on the shenanigans that ensued. I also focused more in the beginning on the relationship between Cirian and Rian, to give readers a chance to know them and their inner workings better.

* * * * *

This novella is as the authors note above, it has extended three scenes that are already in the book, they were hot in the book, but in this novella, these three scenes make some really hot reading.

You see more of the relationship between Cirian and Rain, and the fact that they both still love each other as much now, as they did when they were first married, that they compliment each other like night and day.

Aiyan and Kaden – well they break everything in sight, and now ice cream comes into the mix….. and well you will never think of ice cream in the same way!!

The third scene involves Tanis and Raven communing with nature, and I think I loved this one best.  In this scene, you learn so much more of how much Tanis loves Raven,  and how he seems to sense what Raven is feeling.

Appearances

Appearances, can be deceiving.

Raven and Tanis are trying very hard to merge their vastly different lifestyles, but Tanis issues with his own past could prove to be more than their fragile relationship can handle. Is their love for each other strong enough to weather the oncoming storm?

Aiya and Sawyer have fought hard to be together in a world where Opposite relationships are generally forbidden. Yet, they are still forced to keep their relationship a secret while they are outside the walls of House Gaeland.

Everyone assumes that the only threat lies outside their walls, the group of rebels led by Cillian. But something is happening within House Gaeland, something that hasn’t happened since GWI. And with all the attention focused on that, their guard is down. An evil that was under their nose all along strikes, and someone will make the ultimate sacrifice to save another.

Wow, this books takes up the story from where we finished at the end of Opposites, and it is just as fast paced.

Raven and Tanis are still together, but when they return to Tanis’s home town, it becomes apparent that Tanis was a love ’em and leave kind of guy. There are quite a few men, who would love to be with Tanis again, and he incorrectly thinks that Raven is angry with him.  It takes a drastic action from Raven to make Tanis realise exactly what he has, and what he could actually lose unless he acts fast.

While this is happening, Aiya now has another even bigger secret, that ends up being a threat to her life……. but who will save her??

There is also the twist at the end of Opposites, which then again rears its head in Appearances…. I don’t want to say too much as I don’t want to spoil it for people reading this series, but this is one explosive event, which still has to come to a conclusion one way or the other.

Add into this, the cardinal of the Order who seems to have lost his mind, and the secrets that are uncovered on his death, and this book will be one that you cannot put down.

The Cellar

It’s time to learn the truth about what happened that day in The Cellar.

Taryn and Thanos are the formidable Ambassadors of House Orion. Taryn was born into power, bred from birth to lead the people of Greece along with his sister Theresa, Thanos was never a part of his mother’s plan. The son of a fisherman was not a suitable match for the son of Greece as far as their mother was concerned, but Taryn always takes what he wants.

The Cellar is the story of how these two men met and fell in love, and what lengths Taryn went to, to ensure he kept his man. This novella also contains a more detailed accounting of what happened the night Raven and Tanis went for a walk on the beach, and the adult version of Mistletoe and Mayhem that was initially released as a free short through goodreads.

The Cellar is the second novella in the Opposites series, the series should be read in order.

* * * * *

After getting hints in the previous books, you finally get to learn exactly what Taryn did to ensure that he married his soul mate Thanos – even though his mother was determined to marry Taryn off to a more suitable person.  With the help of his sister Theresa, they make a plan and it all goes as they wish……

I have reading about Raven and Tanis, as although they both love each other, it is clear that both of them are usually at a loss as to why the other has chosen them.  I love how their walk on the beach turns into more, and that their sisters are watching over them to ensure they are protected and left alone.

Mistletoe and Mayhem is Aiyan and Kaden, and I always laugh when they manage to break some other piece of furniture!!  This story is no different, and I don’t think they will ever change.  It is not deliberate, but it seems to be that no matter what they do, that they always manage to break something while having making love to each other…..

As the book ends, it goes back to Raven and Tanis, but I again don’t want to spoil it for anyone by saying that happens with them…..
