Synopsis:
When Shane Greenly left his home in Casper Mountain, Wy, he was leaving more than just the closet. He needed a fresh start to pursue his dream of running a dog training ranch without having to deny who he really is.
Meeting Alex was one of the best things that could have happened to Shane. They were at the beginning of a wonderful relationship when the unthinkable happened and Shane had to leave. The consequences of his past mistakes could not be hidden any longer.

Shane has recently moved to Denver and is currently staying with his aunt. He is working at her animal clinic as a vet tech, but is hoping to open a training facility for dogs one day. Shane meets Alex when he brings in his dog with an injured leg. After attending to Stormy and giving Alex care instructions, he finds out that Alex is leaving town. Unfortunately, Alex will have to kennel Stormy in order for her to have the care and supervision she needs. Shane hates the thought of Stormy being locked in a kennel for the majority of time that Alex is away. Without thinking Shane offers to dog sit for Alex.
Alex is thrilled. Not only will Stormy have the care she needs and get to stay home, Shane will be staying at his house as well. Alex is extremely attracted to the man but figures that Shane is straight.
After Alex leaves the clinic with stormy, Shane is questioning his mental stability. Why in the world did he offer to dog sit. Yeah he loves animals but this intense attraction he has towards Alex could get him into major trouble. Shane will keep his commitment for Stormy’s sake, but he will keep all desires hidden from Alex.
When both men learn that the other is also gay they hit it off fast. They get along great and their relationship is building. This all changes when Shane receives a phone call that sends him running back home to Casper Mountian. Will Alex understand or will the past come between them for good.
This is a story about two men who find love in one another and prove that love is worth fighting for even when the unexpected comes along. There is some sadness but mainly a sweet love story. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I loved how Shane grew throughout the story. He was able to accept his responsibilities and still find the love and life he wanted. My only complaint is the ending felt a little rushed. I would have loved to read how things worked out between last chapter and epilogue. I look forward to reading more books by the author in the future.
If you want a short sweet story with a few surprises then I recommended reading When it’s Right by Aria Grace.
