Wendy reviews The Current Between Us by Kindle Alexander 2nd edition with bonus material. Re-Published November 27, 2016, 337 pages.
Gage Synclair, international, hard-hitting investigative photojournalist, is preparing for the final special report of his career. A story of deception and murder six long years in the making. After spending ten years in some of the worst parts of the world, he’s ready to settle life down and open an art gallery in his hometown of Chicago.
Trent Cooper, electrical contractor, is surprised by the last minute request for a fast-paced electrical remodel, little did he know he’d be immediately propositioned by the gallery’s owner. Being gay in the construction industry isn’t easy, nor is being father to his two young adopted children. Trent keeps his life in separate zones to avoid a short circuit. Will their high-voltage passion break the currents between them forever?
I was given a complimentary copy of the bonus material, I had previously bought the book.
Why I read this book: Kindle Alexander is an author that I auto buy as soon as I know there is a new book out. I don’t even think twice. I had ‘The Current Between Us’ when it first published and once I found out it was re-releasing with bonus content and I had the opportunity to read and review, I grabbed it with both hands.
One of the things I love most about this book is Trent’s family values. He absolutely lives for his children and that’s exactly how it should be. He puts them first in ALL things even when it means he’s lonely. He made a promise and he will stick with it regardless of any personal cost. He works hard and he is just someone that I want as a neighbor and a friend. But the thing is, he has these two really exceptional children. There’s Hunter who is just a well behaved little man until he’s terrorizing his sister like any good brother would do. He just melts my heart when he tries to emulate his Dad. Emalynn or “Em” for short just about stole the show throughout the whole book with her cute little self. I love these kids more than I think I’ve ever loved child characters before. They just bring life to the story. And they are the key element in helping Gage, who I will talk about next, break through Trent’s defenses. Letting Trent finally start to enjoy life to its fullest and begin to dream of a HEA with the man of his dreams.
Gage is everything elegant and classy. He seems to be nice, but right out of Trent’s league at first. But this is a character that doesn’t stop until he gets what he wants and he wants Trent. Em and Hunter have very quickly become center stage in his life too. I love that he has the same moral standards that Trent does. They mesh very well that way. And can he ever talk sexy, filthy, melt your panties/boxers right off! His mouth should be a weapon! Seriously! And when these two men have sex, it’s scorching hot! *phew*
It’s not all just two men, two children and family values in this story. There’s a story on the horizon that’s been years in the making and it could just break them all. Kindle Alexander writes a caliber above most authors in my opinion. There’s drama, intrigue, sex and murder. There’s family and values and a strong moral fiber throughout this book. It’s one of the best I’ve ever read.
Now for the fun part… You get added content with this new release. It takes you to the present with Gage,Trent, the kids and what’s happening in their lives. You get to see where they are right now and what they are doing, maybe where they might be headed. A little peek into what the day to day is like for them. It made me melt to read how they were. I missed them.
