Erryn reviews You Are Cordially Invited (Auckland Med Book 5) by Jay Hogan (Published by the author on June 17, 2021, 246 pages). The audiobook was released on April 4, 2022, was narrated by Gary Furlong and is 6hr and 58mins.
There’s a wedding in the air at Auckland Med, but Reuben wonders if they’ll survive the stress long enough to say, “I do”. Cam is directing the entire operation with his combat eyeliner in place, while the wedding party is doing its best to ignore him. The pressure is mounting and the cracks are beginning to show.
There’s a bachelor party to survive.
The paparazzi to outrun.
A wedding outfit to confirm.
A rugby game to win.
A jerk of a father to cope with.
A stunning opportunity to consider.
A relationship to untangle.
And a shocking event that could derail everything.
With the universe conspiring against them, Reuben and Cam will have to summon every scrap of belief they have in each other to make it to their vows.

My Review:
I want to start by talking about Gary Furlong. I recently met my biological father for the first time. He’s a Kiwi. His accent is identical to Gary’s in this book. It’s uncanny. That’s how good Gary is. I don’t know much about him, but I know he’s not from New Zealand. I love his narration of every book of his that I’ve listened to and this one is no exception.
Okay, so on to the story. I’ve been all over the place with this series, so I missed the book where Cam and Reuben got together. Not to worry – I sank right into this story. Cam is a type-A who wants the perfect wedding while Reuben is more laid back and just wants whatever will make Cam happy. I enjoyed watching the dynamic between the two men. Layer in Reuben’s son, and the story was just lovely.
But this is Jay Hogan, so you know something got to happen. And it does. Things get derailed spectacularly and although it should be a moment for the two men to come together, it instead threatens the foundations of their relationship.
Alas, I got my happy ending. Tulle and all.
I’ve waxed on about Gary, so I won’t say more except this is a great series and I’m off to read Reuben and Cam’s origin story.
My Rating:
