When a standalone becomes a series…
Welcome to my mini author tour, thank you to Rainbow Gold Reviews for having me…
When I was at the UK meet I was told by readers on more than one occasion that they thought I just wrote paranormal, or I just wrote contemporary. Of that they knew about Texas, but had never heard of the Sanctuary series. So I came up wit this idea… highlight two very different books, or series, and add in some cool prizes and maybe readers might find something new from me.
Today I thought I would focus on writing sequels. Some of my series actually started out as standalone stories (Guarding Morgan, The Heart of Texas) others begin as series (Heroes, Bodyguards Inc, End Street, Sapphire Cay). It’s difficult to capture what made book 1 feel like it needed a sequel.
The Only Easy Day is book 2 in the Sanctuary series, a former SEAL, an active SEAL and a murder mystery, I love the two featured characters in this book so much I wrote Sanctuary 7 just for them! Book 2 was never meant to happen. Originally Guarding Morgan was going to be a one off story, and then suddenly as I was writing it, it became more. I needed to write more. So a series was born.
Under the Sun is book two in the Sapphire Cay series (written with Meredith Russell). Sapphire Cay was always meant to be a series. A group of books set on a beautiful Cay with sun sex and romance. Book 2 features a former marine and a prissy English wedding planner. Meredith and I have so many characters we want to focus on and we are currently writing book 5, with book 6 being the final (at the moment!)

I love your series, books!, but I had no idea you wrote paranormal…do you? and though you’re probably not interested I actually stated most of your series with Sanctuary, The Only Easy Day – at least it’s the book I remember, and the one I loved so much I craved more 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your stories! I love the cover on Under the Sun. Glasses are so sexy on a guy. 😀 So many authors are bringing mental health issues into the public eye by writing them into their characters. It’s not always done well, which is unfortunate, but you always write such amazing characters and I’m sure this is a series that I’d enjoy!
P.S. Whatever you do, don’t touch my stuff!!!! 😉
