WLK synopsis
StrangeBedfellows - audio coverCan the billionaire son of a Democratic president build a family with the congressman son of a Republican senator? Forget politics, love makes strange bedfellows.

As the sole offspring of the Democratic United States president and his political operative wife, Trevor Moga was raised in an environment driven by the election cycle. During childhood, he fantasized about living in a made-for-television family, and as an adult, he rejected all things politics and built a highly successful career as far from his parents as possible.

Newly elected congressman Ford Hollingsworth is Republican royalty. The grandson of a revered governor and son of a respected senator, he was bred to value faith, family, and the goal of seeing a Hollingsworth in the White House.

When Trevor and Ford meet, sparks fly and a strong friendship is formed. But can the billionaire son of a Democratic president build a family with the congressman son of a Republican senator? Forget politics, love makes strange bedfellows.

Review

Cardeno is an auto buy for me, I know that I will get a sweet story with some hot sexy times and a well earned happy ending.  I was not let down with ‘Strange Bedfellows’.  I will be the first to admit that I do not normally take audio books, RGR has quite a few reviewers who LOVE audios.  But since this was a book I wanted to read since it first came out, I jumped at the chance to review the audio for this tour.

The narrator was perfect, some audios I have listened to try to hard to make the MCs voices different and it ends up sounding bad.  Not with this one.  Ron Herczig did a wonderful job of giving Trevor that deep growly voice and Ford a smooth sophisticated voice.  He also did a great job with the secondary characters.  That said sometimes during the sex scenes he got a little to high pitched for my taste, but other than those few times, he made my toes curl with the heat in them.  Like I need a glass of ice water please.

I felt for Ford, he grew up with parents that had a wonderful relationship, the kind of relationship Ford wants, but with a man.  He also grew up in the church and a political party where being gay is a carer killer.  So for thirty plus years be believes he won’t have the family he has longed for, there has been no one worth coming out for.  Until Trevor.

Trevor is the very out son of the President of the United States.  A self-made millionaire who was ok with being alone.  He does not believe in the church and despises politics.  His parents are the complete opposite of Fords so he is not sure true love even exists.   Until Ford.

Goodness gracious the chemistry between these two is through the roof.  Holy hotness when they are between the sheets, I was surprised they didn’t start a fire.  But even with all the heat, the tenderness and warmth they share you can’t help but sign in contentment.  They are beautiful together even though they are the epitome of the phrase “opposites attract.”  When I read the blurb I thought to myself, there is no way is is going to work without some major angst.  I thought Ford would resist the possibility of setting aside his religion, or his politics and acknowledge who Trevor was to him.  I loved how wrong I was.

I loved this book, and it makes me hopeful that things can change in our society.  And hopefully one day a gay, religous man, holding a political office won’t have to worry about coming out.  Cardeno writes a beautiful, heartfelt, magical romance.  It will tug at your heart, and leave you with a warm feeling.  You will laugh, you might cry, but I can promise you one thing.  You will not regret reading this book.  It is one that i know I will be re-reading often as I do with all of Cardenos book.

Cardeno C. – CC to friends – is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few “awwws” into a reader’s day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno’s stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.

Cardeno’s Home, Family, and Mates series have received awards from Love Romances and More Golden Roses, Rainbow Awards, the Goodreads M/M Romance Group, and various reviewers. But even more special to CC are heartfelt reactions from readers, like, “You bring joy and love and make it part of the every day.”
