The narration: I am not a huge audio book person. I mean I like them, but I am just as happy reading an ebook. In fact I more times than not read instead of listen. That said when I do get an audio book, the narrator needs to be good so I stay intrigued, if not I find myself doing something else and not really paying attention to the book. This narrator was the perfect balance, he did the various characters perfectly. I could actually picture them in my mind as he read them. I would definitely listen to more books by him.
The story: I am a big Cardeno C. fan. Like HUGE, but this is one of the few books I have yet to read by CC. Hangs head in shame. So when we had the opportunity to listen to the audio book for this tour, well I jumped at the chance. I knew that I would love the story because Cardeno has yet to let me down, but I was really excited to be able to listen to the story. I don’t know why I waited so long to get this story because it was FANTASTIC.
I have to say the premise of inviting someone you just met to come along with you while you travel threw me a bit. In my head I’m screaming “DON’T TALK TO STRANGERS” but I think that is the mom in me. LOL But once I got past that I was completely drawn in to the story and the characters alike.
Jeremy is Hollywood royalty and just wants a little peace and quite, so he finds a hole in the wall bar and meets Reg the bartender. They end up hitting it off, but not in the romantic way, cause after all Jeremy is straight. No they hit it off in the friendship way, Reg knows who Jeremy is and doesn’t treat him any differently. In fact he ends up calling him on his crap. I loved that Reg sees Jeremy as a normal guy, because that is what Jeremy wants the most. Jeremy loves how Reg treats him like a friend, he can be himself around Reg, and he doesn’t want to lose that so he invites him to come on tour with him. Travel the world and go on adventures is Reg’s biggest dream, so how could he turn Jeremy down? Well he doesn’t. Plus he genuinely likes hanging out with Jeremy so its a win win.
I loved watching these two fall for each other. Reg falling for Jeremy was easy, it was Jeremy falling for Reg that took some time. But man when he finally did realize how much he wants to be more than just friends with Reg, well it was beautiful. This is so wonderfully written and the narration was spot on. I am kicking myself for waiting this long to get this book, but I am glad I was able to listen to it. I highly recommend this book, it is classic Cardeno, a beautiful love story low on the angst. I know this is one I will listen to often.
Cardeno C. – CC to friends – is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few
“awwws” into a reader’s day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno’s stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever- after sunset.
