Jumping In by Cardeno C coverWhen love’s on the line, the brave jump in with both feet…

Small town cop Clint Rivera can’t catch a break. His ex of two weeks is suddenly getting married, his dogs tore up his furniture, he’s getting evicted, and he’s out of beer. When he decides to solve his alcohol shortage by going to his ex’s engagement party, Clint winds up too drunk to drive himself home.

Enter gorgeous deputy-mayor Hawk Black, the man who constantly shows up unexpectedly and sends Clint’s body and mind into a tailspin with nothing but his whiskey voice and blue eyes. After months of patience, Hawk can finally seduce the man he’s been craving.

Clint’s day might not have started out well, but Hawk’s going to make sure it ends with a bang, preferably in bed. He’ll show Clint some rewards are worth the risk. With love on the line, Clint will need to decide if he can open his heart, tear down his shields, and jump in with both feet.

Review
This story book 6 in the Alpha series is about Clint, a cop in a small town who has the absolute worst day ever. I really just wanted to give him a hug. He returns from a camping trip to find that his ex-boyfriend is getting married to his bosses’ daughter and is having the engagement party of the century, he is being evicted from his apartment and his two dogs have just ruined said apartment in spectacular fashion. The only thing the poor man wants is a beer and even that leads to disaster. Finally, these events have him drunk and in the company of his long-time crush, Hawk. He gets delightfully tongue twisted and flustered around the gorgeous Deputy Mayor. Clint is blindsided to find that Hawk wants him as well and is even further taken aback by the fact that his dream man seems to want more than just a passing affair.
Hawk is everything Clint could want. He’s gorgeous and generous and kind.
One of the things I loved most about Hawk’s character is how self-assured he is, He completely knows what and who he wants and goes for it. He has a great moral fiber that you don’t often see in characters. He waited months for his chance to get the man he knew at first sight was the love of his life. And it sweet to watch his attempts at wooing Clint who at first is oblivious and then just stunned that the man of his dreams could want him and had wanted him for quite some time.
I loved this story. It is very short, but it is very well written. The characters have a bunch going on, but it doesn’t’ feel pressured. I like how this author can do characters that have insta-love, like this story and make it feel realistic. The sex scenes are some of the hottest I’ve read, ever.
This story doesn’t have a bunch of angst or heavy drama, just a nice, feel good story. The kind that Cardeno C is famous for. I will be reading this book over and over.
